Recently, Hangzhou WREN Hydraulics delivered a customized digital hydraulic torque wrench system to a valve equipment client, specifically designed for opening and closing large-diameter valves.

The torque required to open and close large valves often ranges from several thousand to tens of thousands; manually extending the handle makes it difficult to achieve the required torque, and conventional hydraulic torque wrenches rely solely on converting values based on the pressure gauge reading from the power unit—which are theoretical estimates. Pipeline losses, valve stem jamming, and support slippage can all cause deviations in actual output torque, making it impossible to know in real time the true force acting on the valve stem. If the closing torque is too low, the seal will not be tight; if it is too high, the seal components will be permanently damaged.

The equipment set delivered in this project centers on a hydraulic torque wrench, complemented by a digital socket, an electric hydraulic power unit, and an industrial tablet. It is fully compatible with various large-valve opening and closing scenarios, streamlining the entire process from “pressure adjustment—real-time torque measurement—data storage.”

The Model 20 AVANTI Series hydraulic torque wrench has a torque range of 2,425–24,255 N·m with an accuracy of ±3%. Its coaxial double-spline drive shaft features a front reaction arm aligned with the bolt axis, allowing 360° rotation. Since the applied force and reaction force share the same axis, they cancel each other out, eliminating off-center loading and ensuring more precise torque transmission.

The digital socket features a built-in high-precision torque sensor. During operation, the socket’s built-in display shows the current torque and peak torque in real time, and data is synchronized via Bluetooth to a compatible industrial tablet, eliminating the need for paper records on-site.
